We are looking for a leader and strategic thinker with the following attributes:
* Track record of significant, successful CEO level management experience or senior NGO management experience of a larger organization, corporation or program (e.g. 300+ staff.)
* Knowledge and experience in one of the following World Vision "pillars": international development, emergency relief (domestic or international) and/or advocacy.
Must demonstrate familiarity of the other two
* Demonstrated understanding of Mozambique's political, social-economic and cultural context.
* Strong networking skills; previous experience building coalitions with churches, the NGO community and/or corporations a plus.
* Knowledge of financial management and accounting principles of the donor community with experience managing complex, multi-million USD budgets ($20+ million USD).
* Previous experience working with or serving on a board of directors of a large NGO or corporation
* Fluency in English and Portuguese; If not already proficient in Portuguese must be willing to undergo an intensive 4-6 weeks of Portuguese course prior to taking position in country.
* Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in management or social sciences (advanced degree strongly preferred).
Successful candidate must show history of being able to work in and contribute to a team building environment; valuing diversity, cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity and physical stamina. Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources. Ability to live an exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific or local contexts.
Able to work and travel extensively in the country of assignment, as well as attend meetings in the country of assignment, region and WV Partnership. Travel is an essential function of the position requiring sufficient physical fitness to undertake the rigors of working and traveling (i.e. by car, truck, air, etc.) in a developing country as well as in the international arena. In some situations, due to certain security issues related to the country of assignment (i.e. civil unrest, terrorist threat, etc.), must be capable and competent to make key decision(s) impacting the safety and well-being of WV staff members.
Previous experience working with World Vision preferred.
