TRANSPORTNET is co-organizing a Course on Policy Analysis of Complex Transport Systems
Date:  from 2 till 7 June 2012
Location: Sمo Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal
Partcipants: The course is open to professionals (from industry and public authorities) and academic researchers (professors, researchers, PhD students) from all kinds of backgrounds, research fields and interests, holding at least a Master’s degree or equivalent, on a first come first served basis.

Tuition fees:  Professional: 1,300 €,  Student: 800 €. This includes hotel accommodations for 5 days, and a welcome dinner on Saturday. A limited number of full and partial scholarships will be available, to which application can be made.

This course is part of the EU/US policy-oriented ATLANTIS Project “PACTS” - “Policy Analysis for Complex Transport Systems”.  The aim of the course is to provide participants advanced training in policy analysis of complex transport systems, and have them obtain improved skills and knowledge to advance their careers.

Specific topics dealt with by PACTS professors during the course week are: •

  • Policy analysis and development •
  • Cost analysis and the economics of pricing •
  •  Four-step modeling and beyond •
  • Intelligent transportation systems and traffic simulation •
  • Applications to air, maritime and urban transport and traffic engineering. 

Moreover, participants will also participate in policy game applications which will be held each afternoon during the course, so as to apply taught concepts.
Course participants will get a participation certificate and a credit certificate upon successful completion of the assignment. The course values 6 ECTS credits for doctoral programs.
