CDC DEVELOPMENT SOLUTIONS (CDS), an NGO based in Washington, DC will be managing an international executive volunteer program in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil scheduled to take place in the second half of 2010. The successful candidate will work closely with CDS home office staff in providing technical and logistical support for a series of teams of international executive-level volunteers working on smart city solutions for the 2016 Rio Olympics. The candidate will work closely with the teams prior to their arrival in Rio by providing cultural context and guidance and on their arrival in Rio as a liaison between the team and local government entities. The selected consultant’s main responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

•Act as liaison between CDS, the project team and local government;
•Administration and monitoring of all field-based activities, including program and financial reporting;
•Provide guidance with regard to local business and government culture;
•Work with CDS home office staff in providing on-site logistical and programmatic support to a team of executive-level volunteers;
•Orient the new volunteers upon arrival in Rio de Janeiro;
•Participate in conference calls with the volunteers;
•Coordinate business meetings and events for the volunteers and participating clients;
•Monitor and advise on security arrangements for the volunteers when they are in Rio;
•Prepare financial and final program reports.

•Strong local government background and exposure;
•Be knowledgable about and currently residing in Rio de Janeiro;
•Ability to work across cross-cultural teams;
•Experience working on development projects is a plus;
•Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with at least ten years experience as a senior consultant;
•English and Portuguese fluency.
